Kickstart Your Writing with Writers Groups ~ January 13th

Writing is typically a solo endeavour, but finding a community of writers that support one another can be a great source of inspiration, encouragement and can propel your skills. No matter what your experience, a writing group can offer a supportive environment of like-minded people who share a passion for telling stories. We invite you to attend this recorded panel on Writing Groups to discover how they help you writing, and where to find a group for you.

David Shultz

David writes from Toronto, where he is Lead Editor at Speculative North magazine and organizes the 900+ member Toronto Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers.

David was voted #1 Magazine Editor in the 2020 Critters Writers Annual Readers Poll for his work on the multiple-award-winning Speculative North magazine, a semi-pro magazine available free online. As Lead Editor for TDotSpec Inc, David has produced over a dozen Amazon #1 bestselling anthologies, including Strange Economics and Wight Christmas. His own 80+ published works are featured through publishers such as Augur and Diabolical Plots.
As a writing coach and workshop facilitator, David is committed to the success of writers and the growth of the writing community. Marilyn Lamb

Marilyn Lamb self-published, Blood Covenant (Amazon & Smashwords), written articles for a local magazines and won several awards for her writing. On Ravyn’s Wing, her second self-published novel, placed third in the Historical Category of the Toronto Chapter of the Romance Writers of America’s Catherine Competition and was recently awarded a five-star rating from Readers Favorite. In addition to works appearing in the Barrie Writers’ Club’s Anthologies, Unleashed Ink (2012) and Unleashed Ink 2 (2016), both as an author and designer, Marilyn operates a small company to assist other writers bring their work to print. Marilyn Lamb is a lifelong resident of Barrie and a long-time member of both the Toronto Chapter of the Romance Writers of America and the Barrie Writers’ Club, currently as Past President and Community Contact.

On Ravyn’s Wing is her second self-published novel, recently awarded a 5-star rating from Readers Favorite web site.

Iain Moggoch of Theatre by the Bay in Barrie

Iain Moggach (he/him)

Iain is an award-winning actor, director, theatre educator, and Artistic Director of Theatre by the Bay.

Upon graduation from George Brown Theatre School, Iain was an inaugural participant of Theatre by the Bay’s Indie Producer’s Co-Op and was asked to move to Barrie as the Executive Director of Theatre by the Bay in Fall 2015 and in 2018, became the company’s Artistic Director.

Iain has established himself as a central figure in Simcoe County’s theatre scene. With Theatre by the Bay alone, he has produced more than ten productions and five years of the annual gala, Stars Come Out. Most recently, Iain directed the 2021 Augmented-Reality/theatre production, The Ghost Watchers. Iain was recently appointed the Vice Chair of the City of Barrie’s Arts Advisory Committee. Iain also served as the Arts and Culture representative for the City of Barrie’s COVID-19 Economic Task Force. He also finds time to give back to his community by assisting on various events from the Barrie Business Awards to PIE Media Productions to the National Theatre School Festival (Formerly the Sears Festival).
